2005 DODGE 4X4 SHOWS AN OVERCHARGE ON THE VOLT GAUGE OF 17 VOLTS BUT AT THE BATTERYS IT IS CHARGING AT 14.5 VOLTS . WHE YOU TURN THE KEY ON BUT HAVE THE ENGINE OFF THE VOLT METER SHOWS THE SYSTEM AT 16 VOLTS . THIS ALL HAPPENED WHEN MY TECH REPLACED BOTH BATTERYS .I DROVE THE VEHICLE WITH MY MODIAS PRO HOOKED UP AND THE CHARGING SYSTEM STAYS AT 14.5 VOLTS , ANY THOUHTS ?

It sounds like you have a gauge issue which would require instrument cluster replacement.

Does the check gauges light come on?

Are any fault codes setting in the ECM or instrument cluster?
