Customer:

Hello

BigBob :

Do you have a scan tool?

Customer:

No I sure don't.

BigBob :

No problem. Have you checked the condenser fan fuse?

Customer:

yes. and the relays

BigBob :

Ok. You probably have a bad condenser fan motor. Do you have a volt meter?

Customer:

I did until it didn't work when I needed it. I can purchase another one to check voltage at fan plug.

BigBob :

does the relay click when you turn the a/c on?

Customer:

Yes. The compressor will work for about 2 minutes when vehicle is first started. then when line gets hot it will kick on and off in 5 second intervals.

BigBob :

That's probably because the compressor is getting high head pressure and shuts down. Check for power to the fan motor connector at the Dark Green wire. It should have system power on and off when the relay clicks. If there is power present, check for ground on the Light Green/Black wire at the fan motor connector. If you have both the fan is bad. This is very common on these trucks. There is a bulletin from Chrysler about it, click here to view it. This refers to the fuse being open, but the problem ends up being the same. The fan draws too much amperage.

Customer:

Ok. Ill try this.

BigBob :

I have voltage at the fan both ground and hot. I will buy a fan and see if that fixes the problem. Thanks

No problem. You will need to evacuate and recharge the a/c to install.
