We are working on a 2001 dodge stratus with power locks. When the lock button is pressed from the drivers seat, or passenger seat it locks about 60% of the time. If I hold the lock button down in lock position for a second or 3 it usually locks all doors properly. When I hit the lock button, I hear a click sound inside or under the fuse panel located on drivers side door, or under the drivers feet to the left.I took the door panel off, and took the drivers door lock out completely, and cleaned the lock, it was corroded on the contacts on the inside of the lock. I reinstalled. It seems to work a little better, but I think there is a component or relay in common between the drivers lock and passenger lock, that is acting intermittant when the lock button is pressed from either drivers side or passenger side.

Welcome to just answer.com. I'm here to help you and your 100% satisfaction is my goal. It's very possible that this is caused by faulty wiring in the door jamb or the body control module itself may be faulty Check the lock switches and ajar switches in the BCM with the scanner, to see if they are all operating properly

Can you tell me where the body control module is? I hear the clicking relay sound EVERY SINGLE time, so I think the relay is working fine. How do I check the lock switches and BMW with the scanner? I just have an obd2 scan tool. Let mek now ., thanks
I am guessing the BCM is located under the dash at the drivers side feet behind the fuse panel? Is this where the clicking sound is coming from (relay)????? Any wire checks I can do? We dont have a smart scan tool.
Two things I would like you to do first number one is check using a scan tool and tell me if there are any trouble codes being stored in the memory. If then secondly we will do a complete system reset by disconnecting the battery and touching the two battery cables together for 30 seconds this will completely discharge and reset all the modules in the vehicle including the body control module if this happens to be just a glitch in the programming many times this will rectify it let me know what you find
Will this reset the radio or lock it out by disconecting the battery? I will do the scan tool now?
I think this reset the BCM and locks are working properly now. Thanks
