Customer Question

I have 1 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 360. The ABS light is coming on and breaks are spungee. Now visable brake fluid leak at the front or rear breaks.Brake fluid level is good. Light will go off when battery is unhooked but come on after brakes have been pressed a few times.

Already Tried:
Unbhooked battery and light stayed off for a few minutes untill brake was engaged a couple of times. Inspected front and rear brakes and now visible leaks

Ok this is due to a failure with the ABS control unit. If there are no external leaks in the system the the ABS dump valves for ABS operation and sticking open and causing this problem. You will need to replace the ABS unit and then bleed all the brakes down manually and then preform an ABS system bleed with the scan tool to get the rest of the air out of the system. After you do this that will correct your concern
