Daniel :

Welcome to Just Answer. We are working on a fast accurate answer Based on the info you have provided. Your time and my time are both Very important. HI I"M Daniel; what your are decribing sounds exactly like the torgue convertor.

Daniel :

If it idles smooth and revs smooth in nuetral and park Then blame the torque convertor. You should Have a code or check engine or tranmission light but not always

Daniel :

If you dont it will take a qualified trans expert to diagnise with out code by runninga funtions test . With scanner. While driving with an assistant

Customer:

yes it idles fine

Daniel :

It kind like putting the truck in 4th gear and letting the clucth out when going 5 miles an hour. and it will eventualy die

Daniel :

I believe you mention a very similair sysmptom of starting off in a higher gear.

Customer:

yes so do i just put a new torque converter in

Customer:

and how do i tell if it has a high or low stall

Daniel :

Your automatic transmission has a torque convertor to shift for you. You want to test first as there is a torque convertor solenoid that gives of similair symptoms that is lots less and a better case scenario.

Daniel :

it will get worse and eventually die when placed in drive or park.

Customer:

where is the torque solenoid at

Daniel :

Getting your scan done will confirm this or warn you of other possible issue.

Customer:

and how do i check it

Daniel :

click here for location and it wont take removing transmission to change which will save you money. the torque convertor itself requires the tranny to be removed.

Daniel :

Your yellow pages will have a list of trans shops but I would go to the local auto zone and ask them who they think is the most honest and good.

Daniel :

If you do want to do repairs your self you can follow up after Accept and i will give you repair info. no additional clicking of Accept.

Customer:

it just started doing all at once so which problem do you think is more likely

Daniel :

The torque convertor. make sure all the recalls have been done on your truck You have alot. just have dealer do the one that your truck quaifies for. You may get lucky and something may be affecting the torque convertors operation like throttle cable
