I have a 2005 dodge Grand caravan and the alarm keeps getting stuck somehow and won't disengage. when i go to open the doors with the key fob, it won't unlock the doors and doesn't beep, so if I unlock them with the key in the door, the alarm goes off and nothing can stop it. When it finally stops on it's own, if I try to start the car, the alarm will start honking again, won't disengage and the car wont start. If I go to the battery and unhook both cables for a few minutes, it will start and all is good. Do you know what is causing this and how to fix it? It doesn't happen all the time, maybe 3-4 times a week. Thanks!Lisa~

Welcome to Just Answer Dodge my name isXXXXX don't know your automotive experience level, so I may have to ask questions of you before I can help. This is actually a flaw in the original software that the body control module or BCM has been programmed with. Chrysler has released some updated software to correct this, so this is what you will need to have done.Your dealer can do this for approximately one hours labor......maybe a little less depending on your dealer.
So I have to take it to the dealer? Dang it!! I was hoping it was a fuse I hadn't checked! Thanks!! I'll let you know if I have any more questions AFTER we get back from the dealer.Lisa~
Yes, unfortunately, they need to do this programming first before anything else can be considered. You are free to ask follow ups even after accepting, just so you know.I hope this information is helpful and let me know if you need further assistance with this.
