Hi, and welcome to Just Answer. My name is XXXXX XXXXX I will help the best I can.

Tom :

Since it didn't have any noticable problems before this, I would suspect that it has a transmission range sensor issue.

Tom :

It is the electronic sensor that tells the computer what shifter range is requested

Customer:

that must be located in the trans. then.

Tom :

I'm checking to make sure on your particular model some on on the outside and some are on the inside.

Tom :

Yes it is inside the trans mounted to the valve body

Customer:

thats what i was thinking. how much does this cost to fix roughly.

Tom :

I'll look up the part and labor. Just a second and I'll be back

Customer:

k

Tom :

It will depend on your local shops labor charge, but I would say a couple hours labor and the transmission range sensor is around $300 because it is part of the trans solenoid.

Customer:

k. thanks alot.

Tom :

Id your truckXXXXX/p>

Customer:

yes

Tom :

Make sure the transfer case isn't somehow in neutral

Customer:

i checked that a few times, but did not seem to fix the problem.

Tom :

Ok, just didn't want to overlook any of the simple stuff.

Customer:

well thanks alot again. im gona call some people.
