Customer Question

Where do you attach the additional red/positive battery cable after changing the starter on a 1995 dodge ram 2500 diesel pick up that we inherited with only 60000 miles? It is the short red cable of the positive terminal on the battery on the driver's side. As it is a diesel, it has two batteries.

Hello and welcome to Just Answer!

Are you talking about the short red cable that has an eye terminal on the end of it and comes out of the positive battery cable clamp?

That cable should connect to the power distribution center(black box beside the battery that contains fuses and relays. If you pull the cover off that box, you should see a threaded stud on the side closest to the engine. The eye should attach to that stud.

I hope this helps, let me know!

Thank you,

Richard
