1995 dekota 4 cyl checked wiring horness to pcm all splices are good, finally got it to run by installing a new switch in collum ran god for days then died finally got it started got home died in driveway will not start now, jumped the asd relay and pump ran but pumped no gas to throttel body any ideas????
Welcome to Just Answer Dodge my name isXXXXX realize that all my answers are based solely on the info you provide me......If your fuel pump is running, but there is no fuel coming out of the line, then either there is no fuel in the tank or the pump is faulty/restricted. I'd be dropping the tank to have a look at what is going on inside the tank.
tank is full i had just filled up when it did this
Ok, then you'll need to drop the tank and have a look inside.
ok might have to ask more later if i dont find a problem
Sure, no problem.
still have trouble keeping my 1995 dakota running
OK, what did you find when you dropped the tank?Has the fuel situation been corrected?
the wiring loom has been checked for broken or coroded splices nothing found has new fule pump and was jumped and does run, new coil, new pickup in distributor, replaced pcm, new switch, plugs and wires the grounds are all good. it will start and run 10 to 15 min then dies, then won't start and has no fire, let it set for a day it will start then same thing. all wires seem to have continuity.
Thanks. But I need to know if your fuel problem has been corrected. Last time we spoke you stated your pump was running but no fuel was going out of the line?
replaced pump seems to work
Ok thanks. So if you have good fuel pressure, then the next thing I would suspect is a bad crank sensor. The sensor is bolted to the transmission bellhousing on the driver's side.Have you checked to see if any fault codes have been stored by cycling the key ON OFF ON OFF ON..............and counting the flashes of the check engine light. One flash, pause, 2 flashes would be a code 12.
will have to check the crank sensor, napa said there wasen't one on it. nothing in codes that we haven' tried.
Ok, let me know how you make out.
will the crank sensor cause the truck to die after 10 to 15 min and not start again and can the senso be tested and how
Yes, the crank sensor can stop working at any time. When it stops sending a signal to the computer, the engine will stall and it won't start again until the sensor starts generating a signal again. They can only be tested when they are not working...ie. when it won't start. The best way to check them is with a scan tool and monitoring the crank sensor data to see if it is sending a signal to the computer or not.
never could get it to run was going to replace crank sensor on the bell housing can';t find it some say on top just to left and some say could be inside housing do u know????
I'm going to have to apologize. I've just gone through the diagrams and in 95 they are not using a crank sensor on the 2.5 engine. They use a pick up inside the distributor instead, so have a look there.
ok the pu in distriutor is brand new. i even changed th pcm it will turn over but will not start have put so parts on it went through wiring hornes, new fule pump it has gas and fire, how to check if the injector are working?????
Ok this originally started as a fuel pump problem. Now you are saying that you have good fuel pressure and good spark. Is that correct? To check the injectors you will need what is called a noid light. You unplug an injector and plug in this noid light and see if it flashes when you are cranking. You can rent/borrow/purchase these at your local parts store most likely.I hope this information is helpful and let me know if you need further assistance with this.
will have to locate one , a test light won't work??? these is the only thing not tested, the pulse for injector comes from the pcm????
are u sure no crank sensor, the dealership in my area say it does on top of bell housing hard to get at need special tool?????
The info I have shows that they didn't use a crank sensor until 96. If you can post your VIN however, I will have another look for you.
1b7fl26g1sw922956 parts store can order it an AM parts online show it if the 8th vin is G
The Chrysler parts catalog only shows a crank sensor for the 96 model 2.5 4 cyl engine. The 95 wiring diagram that I have does not show a crank sensor either. In an earlier reply you stated that you had spark, so I'm not sure why you are following up with a crank sensor?
just grasping at straws have replaced everything else. spark and gas it should have started. got it to run last fall after replaced the switch then it died and has not started sence
Hello, try this -- open up the wire harness from the battery to the firewall -- the one that runs under windshield=hield washer reservoir-- locate red wire and white tracer-- follow to the splice-- look for corrosion
have opened the wiring hornas and traced the wires checked all splices and meter sayes all good
you found red wire-- white tracer --splice is good visually?
also there is a black ground wire that goes to splice in tha t harness-- visually check also
done all this look good i even changed out the pcm new pu plate, at one time it would start and run for 5 or 10 min and die put new swith in collum ran good for 2 days died and will not start now it will turn over worked on it off and on for over a year. even put new fule pump in, new coil, new o2 sensor, put on another distributor, redone all the grounds, have not done anything with throttle body but have gas to it
when it does not start -- what are we lacking -- fuel or spark?
have both
map sensor is new?
yes
