2004 Dodge Grand Caravan: 130,000 miles..3.3L..pressure light..warning

Customer Question

For 2004 Dodge Grand Caravan with 130,000 miles. 3.3L V6
Oil pressure light occasionally flickes on and off very quickly, sometimes with warning beeps. Always when stopped, never when moving. Flicker will always stop when raise RPMs. Has never burned oil or leaked. Always change oil & filter at 3-4,000 miles. Last change 1500 miles ago.
Engine never overheats. Carefully maintained. What may need repair? Risky to drive now?

Hello and Welcome to JustAnswer,

My name is XXXXX XXXXX I am here to try and assist your with your question. First thing to do is check the oil pressure with an external gauge to make sure the dash gauge is reading correctly. If not reading correctly then replace the oil pressure sensing unit. If reading correctly you need to remove the oil pan and check the oil pump screen and make sure it is not restricted. If good then check the crankshaft main bearings for wear and replace them if worn. If the bearings are good then replace the oil pump.
