Hello and Welcome to JustAnswer,

My name is XXXXX XXXXX I am here to try and assist your with your question. Have you raised the engine to allow for enough clearance?
Customer: replied 5 years ago.
no

OK.....you will have to do that to remove the pan. Here are some instructions to help

PAN - ENGINE OIL

REMOVAL

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Install engine support fixture special tool #8534. Do not raise engine at this time.
  3. Loosen both left and right side engine mount through bolts. Do not remove bolts.
  4. Remove the structural dust cover, if equipped.
  5. Drain engine oil.
  6. Remove the front crossmember.

CAUTION: Only raise the engine enough to provide clearance for oil pan removal. Check for proper clearance at fan shroud to fan and cowl to intake manifold.

  1. Raise engine using special tool #8534 to provide clearance to remove oil pan.

If you dont have the special tool a cheery picker and a chain will work but you need something to raise the engine to give you clearance

so the oil pan slides towards front of truck

Expert:  brownjeff replied 5 years ago.
It will come out at an angle not straight down. Same angle as the engine will be in when raised.

Expert:  brownjeff replied 5 years ago.
You can drop the pan down to gain access to the bolts that hold on the pick up tube to remove them
Customer: replied 5 years ago.

Expert:  brownjeff replied 5 years ago.

Towards the center. Pan should drop more than that if you raised the engine.
