Welcome to JA. Have you checked to see if you have fuel pressure at the fuel rail and the the fuel pump in the gas tank is working? Which engine do you have?
engine is 3.8 where is the schrader valve
It does not have one on the rail on this year you have to unhook the fuel line at the rail and use a connector that will splice the lines together to check the pressure or just plug the pressure guage right into the unhooked line.
would i still have spark to spark plugs if crank sensor is out.
No you would not. This sounds like you have a fuel pump thats gone bad. If you spray a little starting fluid in the throttle body and it runs for a few sec then you know you dont have any fuel pressure.
i suppose fuel pump is in fuel tank any special requirements to change or remove fuel pump
Yes it is in the tank and theres nothing special to change it.
is there any automatic shutoff relays on this vehicle and is there any fuses or relays that could cause this problem
Yes there are shut down relay but if you have spark then its working as well as the fuse that controls this circuit.
should you be able to hear fuel pump running
Yes but only when the key is first turned on so you will need to be back by the fuel tank when someone turns the key on or it will run as long as the engine is being spun over.
tried hearing fuel pump and we hear nothing so seems like it is the fuel pump. if you think there is anything else we need to know then we would appreciate it
If you cant hear it run then thats the problem. If you have spark then the circuit that controls the fuel pump is working. Dont forget to hit the accept button. Thanks
