Hello and welcome back to JustAnswer!

What kind of problems are you having?

Customer: replied 7 years ago.

the truck was shifting fine and about a half hour of driving it would not go in to 3rd i would have to shift in to neutral and rev the motor then shift it back to drive and it would go in to 3rd and od. but when i would come to a stop the trans would stay in od till the truck would almost stall out then u could feel it shift down to first.

now the trans will not shift in to 3rd gear and o.d. i had the computer scaned and the code for the govenor pressure came up and also temp sensor and speed sensor.

Expert:  sprinkles08 replied 7 years ago.

Was it a trans temperature sensor code?

Which speed sensor was the other code for? The output speed sensor?

Customer: replied 7 years ago.

trans temp sensor. i think that code was because the trans was hot i had to drive it for a few miles in second gear.

output speed sensor. my speedo works.

It sounds like you've got a couple problems. The governor pressure sensor and trans temperature sensor are housed inside the same sensor. You've got a code for both circuits inside this sensor, it's very likely to be bad. The governor pressure sensor has a large amount of control over shifting. This is mounted on the right side of the valve body in the trans.

The output speed sensor is mounted to the left rear of the trans. It's a white plastic sensor with a two wire connector. It's signal is used by the engine controller for governor pressure calculations, without it's correct signal you are going to have definite shifting problems too. The output speed sensor is not an uncommon failure and it's pretty likely to be the sensor itself. It runs about $20 and will be in stock at any parts store or dealer.

i have the governor pressure sensor it is gold but do i have to change the other sensor that that is next to it it is silver and has 2 prong plug i was told it is the shift solinoid
Expert:  sprinkles08 replied 7 years ago.
The silver piece is the governor pressure solenoid. If you have a code for the pressure sensor you shouldn't have to replace the solenoid, but it's pretty common to replace both the sensor and the solenoid at the same time while it's apart.
