The brake lights will work when the truck is on or off. Are they stuck on all the time, even when you are not applying the brakes?
Customer: replied 7 years ago.
yes when no pressure on pedal, also have pressed brake switch on pedal in all the way by hand still on
Expert:  CDJMasterTech replied 7 years ago.
You probably have a bad brake switch. Unplug the electrical connector on the switch, if the lights go out you have found your problem. If I have answered your question please hit accept.

I unplugged the switch at brake pedal & removed it
Expert:  CDJMasterTech replied 7 years ago.
So the switch is completely out of the truck right?
Customer: replied 7 years ago.

2003 Dodge Ram 1500 4X4 1d7hu18d73s357582 I just last month had at my dodge dealer for trailer wiring & they repalced the ipm
Expert:  CDJMasterTech replied 7 years ago.
Are all of your brake lamps on, both sides and center?
Customer: replied 7 years ago.
Left & right or on, not center
Expert:  CDJMasterTech replied 7 years ago.
That explains the problem. The left and right side taillamps are controlled by the IPM. The center light is controlled directly with the switch. You have a problem with the new IPM, take it back to the dealer, Mopar parts are warrantied for a year or 12,000 miles. If I have answered your question please hit accept.
Customer: replied 7 years ago.
can I put the old switch back in
Expert:  CDJMasterTech replied 7 years ago.
Yes, as long as you did not damage it when you removed it. Sometimes the plastic retaining tabs break off when you remove the switch, if this has happened you will need to replace the switch. If I have answered your question please hit accept or I do not get compensated for my answer.
