Hello ronp,
I see upped the fee. Still this will be long and painful for me.
how to start. You have chopped wiring at the transmission for what reason??
It is a simple removed lock turn counter clock wise and it falls off. THis is no car for the average Joe. THis is a Mercedes product and does not take kindly to hacking..
You have ordered new keys. Do you still have the originals?
THe engine ran?
Oil pressure?
Tell me step by step what happens when you turn the key in the ignition.
Sorry if I sound a little stressed. Been a long day.
jp
an idiot took the transmission. i know it is simple, but he cut it without me knowing it. i fired him, that is why another guy put it back in.I bought car over manheim TRA sale. it was wrecked slightly in front, but the selling blank blank crooked dealer had changed out engine along with other things. I did not get a key . i took it to chrysler dealer on back of truck and he ordered new key and programmed it. car started but no oil pressure. so i had engine pulled and new oil pump installed. bearings looked fine.when i turn ignition key on all lights on inst. cluster come on like they should. i hear fuel pump kick in. when i turn key to crank position- no crank.the chrysler dealer has since gone out of business.
i appreciate your looking at the crossfire no start. the key fob will not work the door locks but will turn dash flashers on when lock button is mashed. I dont know if this has anything to do with not starting but thought i would mention it. if we get it running i will tip you. i realize what a challange this is. i've been scratching my head for days on this thing. feel free to ask me to go try or check something on this car . Thanks ron p.
Ok
thank you
First lets see if the alarm works to make sure it is in the off mode. Lock the car with the drivers window open. Wait about a minute . Watch the tow light below the radio. It will flash fast and when is set it will flash about half the speed. Then open the door with the handle on the inside.
let me know. Have the fob ready to turn off or go to the ignition with the key
hi jp just tried the procedure. i had to lock doors manually.the fob will not lock it ,but when you press unlock, flashers come on & you hear the right door whir like lock motor is trying to unlock. so manually locked doors with window down waited 1 minute. turned key to run position. tow light came on,blinked then started flashing fast 2-3 minutes never went to 1/2 speed. opened door from inside with key off then turned key back on. then tried to start. did i miss something? should have key on or off when i open door from inside?
Key must be out of the ignition.
try again. you are setting the alarm.
Sit in the car and lock the doors with the door lock button under the radio with the key out of the ignition.
let me know.
Ok so only unlock works on the fob with parking lights flash?
I assume you are handy with tools. You need to see if your door lock air / vacuum system in the rear well inside the car has signs of water in it. It is important to make sure this door lock security module has not been in water. YOu will have to detrim left and right side panels and remove the rear / front one to be able to pull the carpet type pieces out along with the compressed foam covering the pump. screws and pull clips
ronp
what do the other keys do? the original ones. Do you have them?
How about the battery condition?
ronp.
can you send pics of the engine compartment?
good morning JP. the door locks are working now , off fob and under radio. Is tow light supposed to flash when doors are locked and key out of ign? the only way it flashes is when i put key to run in ign. is this correct? i have left it flashing 30-40 minutes, but it never goes to slow flash. Thanks Ron P
Ok thanks for the pics.
THe fob is working lock unlock? Flash any lights?
The tow light is your alarm light.
It should only flash while key is out and doors are locked.
Is it not doing that?
JP no ,no flash with door locked and key out. i just noticed there is no hood latch on car , just 2 tan wires and one black & pink wire. but it was like this when it started before. thanks ron p.
I see the hood switch in on of your pics. You must have this connected and the hood closed for the alarm to arm.
see what you can do.
i have new hood latch ordered. it will be a couple of days can you describe the switch that you see in the pic and location .left , right, or center. thanks ron
first pic
I believe that is the connector for the hood latch. The switch is in the latch.
hi JP, the crossfire latch and catch came today. neither peice has anything electrical on it. i will call the dealer tomorrow and see if there is a switch that clips to the latch.he sold me parts for the hood latch but he may need to look at security system parts. thanks RON.
The Hood Ajar Switch is an integral part of the hood latch assembly (2) and cannot be adjusted or repaired. If faulty, worn, or damaged, the entire hood latch assembly must be replaced. (Refer to 23 - BODY/HOOD/LATCH - REMOVAL).
HI, JP Just got the hood latch and ajar switch on the crossfire. no start. with the key out , when you lock door on switch under radio no light flashing on tow indicator. i cannot lock doors from outside with remote fob . the panic button will not do anything either. but you can unlock doors with fob. with key in ign. and on position the tow light flashes fast. it never goes to slower flash. this should be happening with key out of switch, correct? the lock button on fob is hard & doesn't depress like the unlock button .this is a new fob and key that chrysler made for me . could it be faulty?even without the fob the inside procedure that you gave me should work. correct? also when i turn key to on position , the lower window on trip meter flashes 11000 for 1 minute then mileage (31108) comes on. thanks ron
Hello Ron,
Ok Wow! Lots to figure out! Yes you are correct about the alarm light should only flash with the key out of the ignition. The alarm arming light should not be on with the key in the ignition. If you are in the car with the doors closed. Can you lock the doors with the console switch??
All doors and lids must be closed to have the alarm arm.
The cluster sounds ok.
hi JP, yes i can lock & unlock the doors with console switch. i looked at an 05 at the auction thursday when i locked doors with key out ,it didnt flash. it just came on like it was armed. i can't remember if the lock button on fob was hard like mine. i think it was spongee like the unlock button. we are having very bad weather here, but maybe i will get to look at it more sunday. thanks RON
ROn.
It sounds like you feel you have a bum fob. On the 05 you said the light just stayed on?
It should flash after armed once every 3 seconds.
Ok Now you said the doors would lock and unlock from the inside. Does the alarm go off when you open a door.
morning JP, the alarm does not go off when you open the door.
ROn,
Open the passenger side control module box. Have the battery disconnected. Remove the connectors from all the modules and reinstall them. The engine controller connectors require you to do this in a sequence. You must release the gray locks to remove and during reinstall make sure the gray hooks are in their full release position before placing the connector back in the location. Push the connector fully into the ecm and allow the gray hook to come into the lock position on its own. Then finish the lock off helping the gray hook.
hi JP. im not at the car now , but before i go down to it , you say do it in a sequence. do i release them and replace them , one at a time ,starting at front to back? or all then replace them one at a time ?
Hello ron,
The connectors on the Engine controller will only come out of their location in sequence by design.
hi JP. just went to car and pulled all connectors out. no crank. got back in car, opened window, locked manually on console with key out. no light at all on tow switch. i looked under hood again on left side by headlight cavity and saw a large 2 wire plug going to nothing. it has 2 spades in it i tried a fuse in it .nothing . the wires are heavy gauge. one is red with black stripe. the other is black with green stripe. neither wire is hot.
thanks Ron.
j.p. i forgot to mention that the 2 wires come from a module that has ESG on it along with several numbers and a scematic showing 4 wire locations , 2 of them the above mentioned wires. they may be for a test port?
Ron
the pic is to close to view. Where was this connector found?
JP It runs off of a module on top of left frame rail. The module has 4 wires plugged into it , all large gauge wires. they are in one oblong plug. 2 of these wires come out in a pigtail to this plugin. the pigtail is only about 12-14 inches long. it is just laying on rail, with nothing to hook to.it looks like it should have a fuse or plug into a relay. i put a 30 amp fuse in it, but no change. my son was looking at it today & held the panic button down longer than i had & it started whistling. so it does work. the module has ESG stamped on it along with a lot of numbers.thanks RON.
can you give me a pic that is from a distance and point it out plugged in?
good morning JP, Yes i will get more pics today. It isn't plugged into anything, but i am pretty sure that it should be. thanks Ron.
JP , i figured the pigtail out. it goes to cooling fan which i don't have on. thanks Ron.
Metal box left front fender large plug wiring goes to the fans out front.. correct?
hi JP, yes they go to cooling fan connector. i took box off & took it to dodge house. They called chrysler with part # & they told them it was cooling fan module. do you think i should loosen motor mounts and raise engine up to see if there any wires pinched or ground wires loose? it looks like engine wires feed down from top. Thanks Ron
Ron Send me some pics of the harness routing.
Can I have a pic of the engine compartment?
Your engine harness is all up top or should be. The only harness that is under the car is the transmission and it comes out of the passenger foot well inside to out.
JP , It started. I don't know what happened overnight. iI went down to take pics & decided to try it, & it cranked. But it is only bitter sweet . the light on tow botton is still flashing fast , constantly. the oil pressure light comes on after running engine for a couple of minutes and stays on. i will send you pics of engine compartment this afternoon. Thanks Ron.
hi JP , we are having trouble sending pics can you send me a nother direct e-mail address? I have a yellow light on left side of clusterthat is on it is next to airbag light. also on right side a BAS ESP light is on. still no security light blinking with key out.. Fob will not lock door.Hopefully we are almost done. I know this is taking so much of your time.I know that you will be glad to rid of it . Thanks Ron
JP, the engine on crossfire seems to have oil pressure, but the light comes on after 30 seconds. Thanks Ron.
Jp, we are having trouble sending pics can you send me another direct email address? I have a yellow light on the left side of cluster that is on it is next to the airbag light. also on the right side a BAS ESP light is on. still no security light blinking with key out. Fob will not lock door. Hopefully we are almost done. I know this is taking so much of your time. I know that you will be glad to get rid of it. the engine on crossfire seems to have oil pressure, but the light comes on after 30 seconds. Here is the underhood pictures. Thanks, Ron
The yellow light should be a coolant light. Low level.
What happened to the wiring on this car??
hi JP, the car was wrecked in front. I havent fixed the wreck damage until i could make it run. it should have an easy fix, except this guy robbed the engine & several parts from it. do you have any ideas on the oil pressure? the car has to warm up before it will take any throttle. i dont run it long because there is no coolant in it. i had several more engine compartment pics . i have to rely on someone to send the pics, but they tell me they can't send that many on just answers reply page. the wires that i laid out on white paper are mainly for headlights and pk. lights. there are a couple more that i don't know about. thanks RON.
hi JP, do you yhink the oil light and key fob not locking, and oo security light flashing are related? thanks Ron i will accept your answer today and get you paid. you did a great job !!. thanks RON.
Hello Ron.
Your oil light is not for pressure. How do you know this is a pressure light?
Key fob and security light are two different things.
Let me ask you has any one removed the switch bezel and disconnected the switches??
Technical Instructor Master ASE
14 Years manufacture instructor
hi JP, I just assumed that it is an oil pressure light, because it has the oil can symbol as far as i can remember. As far as i know , no one has removed the switch or bezel. the dash and guages seem to be the only thing someone hasn't messed with. Ron
hi JP, i am trying to pay you, but can't figure it out. I contacted help staff. They told me there is an accept symbol at top of your answer.Ii do not see it. can you advise me? thanks Ron.
