Airbag code =!driver squib circuit open!

Resolved Question:

air bag code =!driver squib circuit open! and i replaced the wire coil under neath the steering wheel that was cut but i am still can n,t reset the light can you tell me how to do it?

2001 Dodge Dakota v 6 3.9 L

Already Tried:
i retrieved codes with my scan tool and i found one code the code says driver squib circuit open and i replaced the wire coil located under neath the steering wheel but i can n,t reset the light still on and when i hook up the scan tool i still have the same code driver squib circuit open.

Hello and welcome to just answer Dodge. If you still have that code, then the squib circuit is still open. If the circuit is good, then the light will go out on it's own. The open squib could be the airbag itself, the wiring between the clock spring and the air bag controller, or the clock spring (which you already replaced). Here is the diagnostic procedure for that code from the service manual for you to look at. Hope this information helps. Let me know if you need more assistance with this.

Symptom:

DRIVER SQUIB CIRCUIT OPEN - ACTIVE

When Monitored and Set Condition:

DRIVER SQUIB CIRCUIT OPEN - ACTIVE

When Monitored: When the ignition is on, the ACM monitors the resistance of the Driver

Squib circuits.

Set Condition: The ACM has detected an open circuit or high resistance in the Driver

Squib circuits.

POSSIBLE CAUSES

CLOCKSPRING, DRIVER AIRBAG CIRCUITS OPEN

DRIVER AIRBAG CIRCUITS OPEN

DRIVER AIRBAG LINE 2 OPEN

DRIVER AIRBAG LINE 1 OPEN

ACM, DRIVER AIRBAG CIRCUIT OPEN

TEST ACTION APPLICABILITY

1 NOTE: Ensure that the battery is fully charged.

WARNING: TURN THE IGNITION OFF, DISCONNECT THE BATTERY AND

WAIT TWO MINUTES BEFORE PROCEEDING.

WARNING: DO NOT PLACE AN INTACT UNDEPLOYED AIRBAG FACE

DOWN ON A HARD SURFACE, THE AIRBAG WILL PROPEL INTO THE AIR

IF ACCIDENTALLY DEPLOYED.

Disconnect the Driver Airbag.

NOTE: Check connectors - Clean and repair as necessary.

Connect the Airbag System Load Tool 8310 brown cable and jumper harness to the

Driver Airbag connector.

Turn the ignition on then, reconnect the battery.

With the DRBIIIt, read the active Airbag DTC's.

Does the DRB show DRIVER SQUIB CIRCUIT OPEN?

All

Yes ® Go To 2

No ® Replace the Driver Airbag.

Perform AIRBAG VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.

NOTE: When reconnecting Airbag system components, the ignition must be

turned off and the battery must be disconnected.

ST ACTION APPLICABILITY

2 NOTE: Ensure that the battery is fully charged.

WARNING: TURN THE IGNITION OFF, DISCONNECT THE BATTERY AND

WAIT TWO MINUTES BEFORE PROCEEDING.

WARNING: DO NOT PLACE AN INTACT UNDEPLOYED AIRBAG FACE

DOWN ON A HARD SURFACE, THE AIRBAG WILL PROPEL INTO THE AIR

IF ACCIDENTALLY DEPLOYED.

Disconnect the Clockspring connector.

NOTE: Check connectors - Clean and repair as necessary.

Connect the Airbag System Load Tool 8443 Clockspring cable and jumper harness to

the Clockspring connector.

Turn the ignition on.

Reconnect the battery.

With the DRBIIIt, read the active Airbag DTC's.

Does the DRB show DRIVER SQUIB CIRCUIT OPEN?

All

Yes ® Go To 3

No ® Replace the Clockspring.

Perform AIRBAG VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.

NOTE: When reconnecting Airbag system components, the ignition must be

turned off and the battery must be disconnected.

3 NOTE: Ensure that the battery is fully charged.

WARNING: TURN THE IGNITION OFF, DISCONNECT THE BATTERY AND

WAIT TWO MINUTES BEFORE PROCEEDING.

Disconnect the Clockspring connector.

Disconnect the ACM connector.

NOTE: Check connectors - Clean and repair as necessary.

Connect the Airbag System Load Tool 8310 ACM Adaptor to the Airbag Control

Module connector.

Measure the resistance of the Driver Airbag Line 1 circuit between the ACM Adaptor and the Clockspring connector.

Is the resistance below 5.0 ohms?

All

Yes ® Go To 4

No ® Repair the Driver Airbag Line 1 circuit for an open or high

resistance

Perform AIRBAG VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.

NOTE: When reconnecting airbag system components the ignition must be

turned off and the battery must be disconnected.

TEST ACTION APPLICABILITY

4 NOTE: Ensure that the battery is fully charged.

WARNING: TURN THE IGNITION OFF, DISCONNECT THE BATTERY AND

WAIT TWO MINUTES BEFORE PROCEEDING.

Disconnect the Clockspring connector.

Disconnect the Airbag Control Module connector.

NOTE: Check connectors - Clean and repair as necessary.

Connect the Airbag System Load Tool 8310 ACM Adaptor to the Airbag Control

Module connector.

Measure the resistance of the Driver Airbag Line 2 circuit between theACMAdaptor

and the Clockspring connector.

Is the resistance below 5.0 ohms?

All

Yes ® Go To 5

No ® Repair the Driver Airbag Line 2 circuit for an open or high

resistance.

Perform AIRBAG VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.

NOTE: When reconnecting Airbag system components, the ignition must be

turned off and the battery must be disconnected.

5 NOTE: Ensure that the battery is fully charged.

WARNING: TURN THE IGNITION OFF, DISCONNECT THE BATTERY AND

WAIT TWO MINUTES BEFORE PROCEEDING.

WARNING: IF THEAIRBAG MODULE IS DROPPEDATANY TIME, IT MUST

BE REPLACED.

If there are no possible causes remaining, view repair.

Repair

Replace the Airbag Control Module in accordance with Service

Instructions. WARNING: make sure the battery is disconnected

and wait 2 minutes before proceeding.

Perform AIRBAG VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.

NOTE: When reconnecting Airbag system components, the ignition must be

turned off and the battery must be disconnected.
