Ive got a 2006 PT Cruiser that has started idleing really rough because it seems like the rpms drop to low at idle. the check engine light came on and the diagnostic codes i get are P0138, P0139 and P2097. Is this a bad O2 sensor?
Optional Information: 2006 Chrysler PT Cruiser 2.4LAlready Tried: Nothing.
The first code is upstream o2 sensor circuit high, the second code is upstream o2 slow response, the last code is downstream fuel system rich. All of these codes are caused by a problem with the upstream o2 sensor. Do a visual check of the wiring for damage, if you find none replace the upstream o2 sensor. It is located on the exhasut manifold and can be seen from the top.
Reply to sprinkles08's Post: Is this the O2 sensor seen from the top toward the back center of the engine compartment when the hood is up? I did a cursory check of that wiring, but I wanted to make sure I am looking at the right thing. Is this probably causing the idleing problem too? because the computer thinks the engine is getting the wrong fuel mixture?
Yes the upstream is the one on the exhasut manifold you can see from the top with the hood open, and yes it will cause idle problems, hesitation, and will decrease fuel economy.sprinkles0839599.7787853819
