Customer Question

I am replacing the front and rear speakers in a 2002 Dodge Neon, 4 door, how do I remove the rear deck and are there any hidden traps front and rear?

Good evening, here is the info you requested for the rear deck speakers:

REAR

  1. Disconnect and isolate the battery negative cable.
  2. Pull upward at each end of the rear seat cushion to disengage retainer loops from cups in floor.
  3. Remove rear seat cushion from vehicle (Rear Seat Cushion).

1 - REAR SEAT CUSHION
2 - CUSHION ATTACHING RETAINER

  1. Remove bolts attaching rear seat back and seat belts to floor (SEAT BACK BOLTS).

1 - SEAT BELT BUCKLES
2 - REAR SEAT BACK
3 - SEAT BACK ATTACHING BOLTS

  1. Push rear seat back upward to disengage hooks at top of seat back (SEAT BACK).

1 - SEAT BACK HOOKS
2 - REAR SEAT BACK
3 - SEAT BACK ATTACHMENT CLIPS

  1. Remove rear seat from vehicle.
  2. Disengage seat belt bezels from rear shelf trim panel.
  3. Remove rear seat shoulder belt from the shelf by sliding belt through the slot.
  4. Remove rear shelf trim panel from vehicle (REAR SHELF PANEL).

1 - REAR SELF PANEL
2 - SEAT BELT SLOTS

  1. Remove four speaker retaining screws (Rear Shelf Speaker(s) Remove/Install).

  1. Remove speaker and disconnect wire connector.
  2. Remove speaker(s) from vehicle.

REMOVAL

FRONT DOOR

  1. Disconnect and isolate the battery negative cable.
    1. Release door latch and open door.
    2. Lower door glass.
    3. Remove window regulator crank, if so equipped (Window Crank).

    1 - WINDOW CRANK REMOVAL TOOL
    2 - WINDOW CRANK

    1. Remove screw from inside arm rest pull cup (Front Door Trim).

    1 - FRONT DOOR
    2 - LINK AND SLEEVES
    3 - INNER REMOTE HANDLE
    4 - POWER DOOR LOCK SWITCH
    5 - DOOR TRIM SCREWS
    6 - FRONT DOOR TRIM PANEL
    7 - INSIDE DOOR HANDLE

    1. Remove screw from behind inside latch release handle.
    2. Disengage push-in fasteners attaching trim to door panel around perimeter of trim panel.
    3. Tilt trim panel outward to clear locator pins on backside of trim panel.
    4. Disconnect trim panel from retainer channel in inner belt weatherstrip at top of door by lifting while gently jiggling.
    5. Move trim panel away from door and disengage clip attaching latch rod to handle.
    6. Remove latch rod from handle.

      CAUTION: Do not allow door trim panel to hang by the wire connector or wiring.

    7. Disconnect wire connector from power door lock switch, mirror switch, and power window switch if so equipped.
    8. Remove trim panel from door.
  2. Remove speaker retaining screws (Front Door Speaker Remove/Install).

  1. Remove speaker assembly and disconnect wire connector from rear of speaker.
