2004 dodge: liter v8..trying to remove the oil pan for inspection.

2004 dodge ram 4.7 liter v8. trying to remove the oil pan for inspection. unable to do so due to something holding it. all bolts have been removed. Able to drop the pan approx 1 inch but something is holding it from inside. Help!!

  • Remove both left and right side engine mount through bolts (Fig. 104).
  • Raise engine to provide clearance to remove oil pan.
  • Place blocks of wood between engine brackets and lower mounts to provide stability to engine.
    NOTE: Do not pry on oil pan or oil pan gasket. Gasket is mounted to engine and does not come out with oil pan.
  • Unbolt oil pump pickup tube and remove tube and oil pan gasket from engine.
