I have a FINEPIX T190/200/300 series. I installed the software disk and it worked perfectly, downloading the camera pictures onto my PC. The Finepix Studio icon on my desktop does not open now when I click on it, & I cannot download new photographs from camera to PC, nor view existing ones on my hard disk.
Already Tried: Uninstalling the software, and reinstalling the disk. No joy: same result as in my problem statement

Hi, my name is XXXXX XXXXX it would be my pleasure to help with your issue today. The Fuji Finepix software is notorious for conflicting with all sorts of other software that can possibly be running on your computer. Try restarting your computer and repeatedly pressing the F8 key to get the boot menu up. Start the computer in safe mode and once it starts, try running the fine pix software with the computer in safe mode. This loads the the computer with a limited set of drivers and hopefully will keep whatever is conflicting with the fine pix software and keeping it from starting.Let me know how it goes and if you are able to start your fine pix software in safe mode, then we'll try and see if we can determine which program is conflicting with it.Thanks for your patience while we work through your issue. Hope this helps. Let me know if there's anything else that I can do to assist you. Please don't forget to rate my response as positive if I've been helpful. If you feel the need to rate "I expected more" or "helped a little", please respond and continue the conversation with me before rating at all and I'll do everything possible to try and help you get your issue resolved or provide you with all the information you need to get it repaired or replaced. Should you choose to rate my response positively, my family and I appreciate it very much. Have a wonderful day and I'll be here when you need me.
Experience: Over 700 Camera and Video Accepts!!!!
Thanks. Will try your suggested processes
I enabled safe Mode successfully, started FujiFilm but it froze as it had been doing before. Pressed ctrl/Alt/Del but Task Manager indicated 'not responding'.
back to normal mode to write this.
Tried again in normal mode, and Reading: Error (code2): DM.C appeared.
Thanks for your patience while we work through this issue. Give me a little while to do some tests and try and duplicate the error that you are having. We'll get to the bottom of it. We've not narrowed down the issue from a conflicting program so we're down to the program itself. My thinking is that you have an issue or error in your registry that is causing the issue. While I work on the issue, I'm going to post a link here for you to a completely free safe program that will clean up issues in your registry. It's one of the top rated programs on the market for freeing up hard drive space and fixing registry errors.CC cleanerDownload and install the program, run the cleaner, and then select registry from the left and scan your registry for issues and fix all selected issues if it finds any. It will ask you if you want to make a back up in case something goes wrong. You can select yes for this if you want, but I've run this thousands of times without it ever failing. Also, you don't have to worry about any ads or anything attached to this install. It's completely free and completely clean. Thanks for your patience while we work through your issue. Hope this helps. Let me know if there's anything else that I can do to assist you. Roger.
Apologies from Scotland: I was away all yesterday. Back in harness and about to try your suggestions.
OK I thought I'd mention that I use the up to date AVG (2011) antivirus on my PC. Soon to buy 2012 version.
I downloaded the free Cleaner & ran it, and deleted the regusrty files it highlighted.
The problem persists however
Regards
Jim
Thanks for the update Jim. Give me just a little while to check some other things and see if I can get this corrected for you. Are you getting any kind of response at all from your computer such as an error message when you try opening the Finepix software?
Yes. The error message is Errorn(Code 2): DM.C
I think I've figured out the cause of your issue. Now if we can just get around it somehow to get your software started to correct it. I've found another instance where this same error code has occurred. It is related to the Fine Pix software searching for an update. The first thing that I'd like you to do is stop your AVG. This may be what is blocking the update from going through. If you are worried about not having your antivirus protection on, then just disconnect from the internet when you stop it. Be sure to stop the firewall as well as the anti virus.Once you have it stopped, then open the CCleaner program that we installed earlier and go to the tab at the left that says tools. Then select start up. This is going to show you all the processes that are set to start up every time your computer starts. Look for any of these processes that is related to the fine Pix software. I'm not sure exactly what it will be called, but it should be there. Highlight it and stop it, then close CC cleaner and try opening the Fine Pix software again.Let me know if you are able to get it to open and then I'll provide you instructions on how to set it to never check for updates on start up which is what I think is causing this issue to begin with.
OK Disabled AVG & Firewall & disconnected internet too. Could find no Finepix or Fujifilm software apparent on list
So there's no start up process to look for updates when you power on your computer. Do you get any kind of message about an update at all when you click the icon to start the software, or does it go straight to the error message. Either way, if the error message comes up or you get any kind of message about checking for an update, just cancel that window and immediately try to click the icon again to start the software. If that doesn't work, then I have another program for you that's purpose is to clean out installer files from uninstalls. Maybe if you uninstall the program from your computer, then run this program, then re-install we can get you going again. It's called windows install clean up. It may have come pre-installed on your computer, but if you don't have it in your program list let me know and I'll get you the link to it.There are a LOT of complaints about this fine pix software on the internet and how unreliable and unstable it is. As long as you have a card reader to transfer your images, there are a lot of much better free programs out there to organize, edit, and store your images. I personally like the one that Google puts out called Picassa.
Thank you again Roger, and accept my apologies for not responding as quickly as you might expect. I have been out & about a lot this week on business & have not been in front of my PC for a while.
OK Let me go back to the beginning again. I have had this camera for 4 months & installed the software, no problem and transferred photographs from camera to PC. A couple of weeks ago this problem you are familar with occurred. I'll try to run it again now & hope to respond shortly.

I'm sorry, but I really cannot figure out why the software won't run on your computer any longer. I recommend abandoning the Fine Pix software completely and using a different photo managing software all together. The only other thing that I can think of that you can possibly do is contact Fuji and see if they have any ideas. They are most likely going to tell you that it's a problem with your computer though and say that it's not their software causing the issue. Here's the link for contacting them. Please let me know what you find out and I'll be here to help.Fuji Support
Sorry but what is a card reader? I'm not familiar with that term
A card reader that is either built into your computer to read an sd card or an external card reader that attaches to your computer via USB port. If you don't have one on your computer, you can purchase one for about $5 at most any store that sells electronics. Then you can just remove the memory card from your computer and transfer your pictures directly from the card to your computer the same way your would transfer files from a usb memory stick. This is just an option since you are having problems with the Fine Pix software. Also, you may try using the system restore option on your computer to restore your computer to a time when the program was working properly to see if it works properly then.
