I have a Samsung HZ30W camera that has two problems. It is stuck on 10 sec delayed shooting, and the flash doesn't work. I have the manual and have gone through the settings process several times. I have removed the battery for a minute or two. I have also tried the RESET selection in SETTINGS. Can I get this fixed? XXX@XXXXXX.XXX

Hi,From your description, the multi selector switch points for flash and timer has failed. Surprisingly, this is, in comparison, a fairly inexpensive fix.. Please see the link below for an estimate from the company that I have found to be one of the best at this type of repair.http://www.unitedcamera.com/Samsung_Hz30W_repair/#ShowSelectionsIt is possible to have your camera repaired, and in this case it is probably cost effective for you. Considering the age and present value of this camera, paying the cost of having it repaired , approximately $45 really depends on how attached to the camera you are. The standard "rule of thumb" is if the repair cost is greater than 50% of the value of the camera, it is not worth it. While a good used or refurbished Samsung HZ30W can be purchased for as low as $85 - $95 and a brand new one still runs around $125+.Please keep in mind that my diagnosis & solutions provided are directly dependent on the accuracy of your description of the problem. As with any "do it yourself" fixes, success is a "team effort", since I can't see or touch the camera, and relies on the customer's manual dexterity and ability to follow the instructions well.If you require additional information, please use the Reply to Expert Tab to contact me. If the switch points for flash and timer have failed, would I still be able to use them to access and navigate the menus for flash and timer? Because I can. If I hit the timer rocker, the timer icons and display appear and I can navigate thru the icons to select 10 sec timer or off, for example, but that has no effect on the behavior of the camera. Same with flash. Do you still think is is the switch? Sounds more like software to me. Does this change your recommendation?
The additional information does change my assessment. A main board component or connection problem or any software issue that can be attributed to the main circuit, raises the repair cost to over $120. This is equal to or greater than the cost to acquire a refurbished unit or even a new one. This is not at all cost effective. If it was still within the warranty period this camera would be replaced as defective product.
