I have a DSC-F707 Sony. All features work.Camera charges etc. but suddenly the flash will not pop up. I have not tried to pry it up as there is no evidence of damage to it at all. I keep it very carefully in a camera XXX.XXX@XXXXXX.XXX
How old is the camera? in months or years since you bought it.Has the camera been dropped or otherwise subjected to mechanical shock(s) in its lifetime?Has the camera been operated in or subjected to, temperatures below 32 degrees F (freezing point) or above about 100 degrees F ? Has it ever been subjected to a humidity higher than 85 % ?Has the camera been operated in a gritty or sandy environment, such as a beach, a seaside, a construction site, or the like?
11 years old-bought new
Camera has not been dropped & there are no dents or evidence of damage
I keep the camera in a padded camera bag & it has not been subjected to heat or cold or high humidity. Kept in a house
It has not been operated in gritty or sandy environment. I am very careful with all electronic devices
Everything else is working on the camera.
Perhaps the best solution for this sort of problem for this model of camera (and given the camera's age, which is really extraordinary by the way) would be to buy a slave flash and use that. But of course, set Force Flash (the lightning bolt icon on the screen) first, take a few pictures, and see if the reluctant flash comes up as a result.
I did not receive an answer that took into account the info I gave in the beginning - that I had run the gamut of troubleshooting per the manual. The info given re the Force Flash was what I had already done per the manual - numerous times. Therefore this was no help to me.
I did wish to point out, that if you wish to keep the camera in use, a slave or accessory flash might be the most efficient solution to the problem - aside from, of course, the crude recourse of prying the flash into the open position, which I don't really recommend at all.
In my original question I also mentioned my reluctance to pry the flash open. Therefore, as I received nothing I had not already mentioned, I would like a refund of my $13. Thank you.
