I have owned my sony a55 camera for 14 months. It has been a great camera up until recently. When trying to view pics using the display button. The pics will rotate uncontrollably I am also having the same problem with the menu botton. After pressing the menu it goes so fast that I can't select anything. I have changed the battery and memory card. I took it to a local camera store and they said they had never seen a camera do that. We tried different lens and nothing helps. Thought maybe you could help.... Hopefully
I don't know whether this would be difficult for you to do owing to arthritis or any other factor - but try tapping the button for viewing pic.s, instead of pressing it. A brisk tap on it might reveal that the rapid rotation of the pictures might be owing to the button sticking down when it is pressed, but not sticking when it is tapped rapidly.Does that change anything? How old is the camera? in months or years since you bought it.Has the camera been dropped or otherwise subjected to mechanical shock(s) in its lifetime?Has the camera been operated in or subjected to, temperatures below 32 degrees F (freezing point) or above about 100 degrees F ? Has it ever been subjected to a humidity higher than 85 % ?Has the camera been operated in a gritty or sandy environment, such as a beach, a seaside, a construction site, or the like?
The camera is 14 months old. It is has not been dropped. No freezing or has been subjected to 100 degrees temp. has not been in sandy environment. I tried tapping the buttons..This did not help the problem. When I try to take a pic it flashes" Camera Error ". I can put the camera on manual and it will take a picture but not on auto. It is crazy.
"Camera Error," plus the other problems, does not sound good. Your camera is unfortunately out of warranty at 14 months old (unless you bought an extended warranty or extended service plan at the time of purchase, the warranty expired 2 months ago.)Have you been using rechargeable batteries, or non-reusable batteries?
rechargeable batteries
Has the current rechargeable battery or battery set, been through at least 20 charge-discharge cycles ?If so, the voltage might be getting weak, which might doubtfully affect the camera in the ways you have described... though this is a rather remote possibility.
