I pushed too many buttons on my Canon Power Shot A590 and I think I ended up protecting everything, but I can't get the menu to go back to protect.
Try removing the memory card from the camera (if your computer has a compatible card reader slot of the right size) and read the images directly from the card. (If this sounds puzzling, ask for more detailed instructions, and mention what maker and model your computer is please.)Where does the 'no image' message appear? on the camera screen, or on the computer screen somewhere? When the camera is not connected to the computer, what can you do with it / is it still normally operational? can you change modes, for instance?
I tried my memory card on my laptop and desktop with the same result. No image appears on the camera screen. I can go to the menu, but it lists:protectrotateerase alltransfer orderresume-------last seenTransition (is at the bottom.when I scroll down, it doesn't changeIf I hit the down button
You must be in Replay mode if you are getting that on the camera's screen. If you could get any pictures from the memory card to display, you could remove protection on them simply enough, by selecting Protect (as an option), then selecting an image and pressing FUNC.SET, then when the protected image displayed like this (with the key icon):
Attachments are only available to registered users.
On the menu page, I can't access protect. If I scroll down, it only goes to the 5th down which says resume----Last seen- and I can't get it to go to protect or anything else.
Switch modes, or go to Resume.Tell me what happens then.
When I press resume, it won't change., I can only toggle from resume and tranision, nothing else.
Nothing changes. I give up. I have to leave town tomorrow. Thanks for trying.
Take the memory card out, and check whether the memory card is write-locked (see if the switch on its side is in the LOCKED position.) If so, unlock it and try it in the camera again.Try a different memory card in the camera, to see whether it works properly.
I moved the lock and reinstalled it in the camera, the camera said it was locked, so I moved it back and still nothing.
You can return to this case later after you get back from out of town. There is no hurry and it will remain open for awhile.
Thank you for your help. I did take two pictures of my cat and they are fine. Now I have 2 pictures. I was able to get protect I am suspecting the rest were erased. If so, I am heart sick as I took many very special pictures that are lost forever. When I display details, the upper right says 2/2Under that is XXX-XXXXDo you know what they mean? My sd card is 2 G and I filled it up taking videos.
Do you need more information about my camera?
2/2 probably means "second picture of two pictures total".As for XXX-XXXX I really can't be sure what that means. But it might be a 'file number' for the particular picture, a sort of serial #.Has the camera gone back to regular menus etc. ?
Yes for rhe 2 pictures.
Is the camera now back to regular menus? if so, I hope my advice provided some help.
Yes, thank you for sticking with me.
Good. If you wish to resume this case later - if there's any more case left to resume - you may do so at a later date.
