Customer Question

I have a Sony Handycam and I have the message Movie Recording Disabled appearing on my screen... I can't find any way to turn this off or return the camera to recording mode. It's not the disc that I have in the camera...

Checked that I have a new disk.... Removed battery and replaced it in camera. Powered off and back on.

Hi,

Please intimate model number of your camcorder that would be written on label pasted at bottom of unit and will help to diagnose the problem.
What kind of disc is in camcorder? is it DVD-R or DVD-RW etc?

Thanks.

Customer replied 361 days and 14 hours ago.

Model number DCR-DVD108 and the disc says Sony DVD R

Thanks for info.

Please format the disc (if camcorder allows) or change the aspect ratio 16:9 or 4:3 in camcorder to solve the issue,
to format the disc, touch Home > Manage Disc > Format disc.
and to change aspect ratio, turn the camcorder On in Movie mode and press Wide Select button to change aspect ratio and check recording.

Hope these info will help, let me know how it worked to proceed.
Thanks.

I tried to do that and it says "this function is currently not available"

I suggested two options, what option you tried?
Format the disc or change aspect ratio?

Customer replied 361 days and 13 hours ago.

I tried to format the disk. I am not sure how to change the aspect ratio... Your message said to press the wide select button after turning camcorder on in movie mode. I think it's in movie mode when I turn it on but not sure. I don't see a Wide Select button... can you advise?

Please check below image of camcorder where I marked Wide Select button, if that does not help, please press tiny Reset button nearby to restore camcorder on default settings to solve the issue.

Hope this will help, thanks.

Hello Shahid, I do not seem to have a wide select button...however, there is a reset button. I tried that but it still says movie recording disabled following the reset.

OK, please take out disc and check camera is still displaying same error message?
Also, put another disc in camcorder and check.

Customer replied 361 days and 12 hours ago.

I will try that, but now my battery is low. Let me try charging it for a bit and get back to you. Is that okay? Can I reply to you later when this is charged?
