Customer Question

I have a rash inbetween the crease of my groin and thigh. It might be herpes but it doesn't look like anything in the pictures. It also has a very pungent yeast smell coming from it. Should I be worried??

The doctor at urgent care believes it's either bacterial or fungal but I'm not so sure.

Hello,

I agree with doctor at ER and your pictures suggest fungal infection.

You may be prescribe anti fungal cream like 1% Clotrimazole and it should improve in few days.

This place is a common site for fungal infection and try to keep it dry and avoid moisture.

Wear loose cotton briefs to prevent friction.

I hope this helps.

Let me know if you have any further query so we can discuss it thoroughly in every aspect.

It's not herpes so you shouldn't worry about it.

Please take a look at this photo as well. It doesn't itch or anything, it just burns a little when I walk.

Everything I've seen online suggests that a herpes outbreak is mainly on the shaft or head of penis. Is this correct??
Expert:  DermDoc replied 5 months ago.

It's Intertrigo- inflammation (rash) of the body folds (adjacent areas of skin) that is caused by rubbing, increased temperature, and moisture,skin-on-skin friction.

Most commonly fungal in origin.

It's definitely not herpes.

Hope this helps.

That's what I had initially thought. But webmd is the worst place on earth for worriers. Any chance the rash and this picture could be related? I'm pretty sure it's thrush and I was wondering if they could be related.
Expert:  DermDoc replied 5 months ago.

No,these are not related.

Hope this helps.

Okay so back to the rash. Is it normal for it to burn instead of itch? There is no itch at all right now. What would herpes look like in this area? Would there even be one in this area. My shaft, base, and head are completely blister free.
Expert:  DermDoc replied 5 months ago.

Yes,it's normal to burn.

Herpetic lesions are very painful fluid filled blisters occur in crops.

And your pictures are not suggesting herpes.

I have this tingling icy/hot feeling in the tip of my penis, it's been here for a few days. What does this mean?
Expert:  DermDoc replied 5 months ago.

You may undergo a urine routine examination to rule out Urinary Tract Infection.
