I have a very dry, itchy skin if I don't put any moisturizer

Customer Question

I have a very dry, itchy skin if I don't put any moisturizer on. So, I use vaseline as a facial moisturizer to mitigate that dryness and itchiness skin that I am having. After using several days, my skin feel less dry and not itchy anymore, but I am afraid that petroleum jelly may have side-effect to my internal health. I have read several articles regarding the detrimental effects of using vaseline. Some say that it will cause cancer and others stating that it will cause organs defect. However, I am not sure if those articles are stating the truth and where are the evidence of saying vaseline can cause cancer and can defecting organs. Thus, I am asking you, as a dermatologist, since you are expertise in this area, could you please tell me if I should continue using vaseline as a facial moisturizer during both day and night times?
