Customer Question

I'm female, 68, healthy. I live in Maryland, having moved from Hawaii 5 years ago. For last two years about this time of the year, my back breaks out horribly. It itches to distraction. I use a moisturizing body wash in the shower and a humidifier in my home. I take biotin. What is happening? What can I do to return to my clear, non itching skin in my back? The situation even disrupts my sleep.

Hello

If this is seasonal it is likely you are coming into contact with something that gives you a dermatitis.

A doctor can look at this and decide if this is likely.

I can look at a picture here.

If this is the case, an over the counter medicine such as claritin might help.

However, you do need an exam, and a doctors care.

If the diagnosis is unclear, a sample can be sent to the lab.

This is easy to do, and helps with a definitive diagnosis.

OK, so that is an initial answer….

Thank you. I will make an appointment with my local dermatologist for the exam you recommend.
