I have a daughter with keloids on both shoulders and something

Customer Question

Hi, I have a daughter with keloids on both shoulders and something that looks just like a melanoma (pinkish/brownish) on the chest. She had these since Year 11. We've seen a doctor already and the doctor does not recommend surgery nor steroids. My daughter will turn 23 this Friday. She said that the one on the chest hurts sometimes. It seems like both are still growing. Is there a tablet or anything I can give her to cure this skin disorder?

This is Dr. David
I have treated many patients who have had keloids which are excessive scar tissue formation after trauma to the skin like tattoos or piercings
the best way to treat keloids is to cut them out by a plastic surgeon and inject the incision with steroids. if this doesn't work, then surgery to cut out the keloid and steroid injection plus 4-5 days of radiation therapy to the incision site can prevent fibroblast from forming excessive scar tissue.
there is no pill or tablet which fixes keloids.
I don't know why that doctor did not recommend surgery or steroid injections
that is the standard therapy for painful keloids.
you and your daughter should see a plastic surgeon about these keloids.
