Antihistamines are first line treatment.
Among them, Hydroxyzine is the most strong one --dose 50 mg 3 time daily.
The next option is steroid --oral prednisone 40 to 60 mg daily then slow taper.
Injectable methyl prednisolone also can be used initially for faster action.
Next option is mast cell stabilizer Cromolyn glycate nasal sprays used in conjunction with any of the above.
Lastly, LT4 inhibitors like Montelukast can be used daily to prevent hives.
