for women with hair loss-can another laser for use at home be used instead of the hand held hairmax laser?? aren't others that don't need to be held as good as hairmax?

There are a number of laser hair comb devices on the market besides HairMax. This particular one probably receives the most publicity since it is (at least the last time I checked) the only one which has an FDA indication ( this is different than approval; approval with devises such as lasers only means it has been found safe). At any rate, if you are trying to avoid the comb aspect ( there is the HairYes hair comb and the AndroHair device), you might look into the 60 Hair Dome. This is a home laser machine which fits over your head and discharges its light this way.
You might try that.
