Hello thanks for using just answer I would be pleased to answer your question .

Your son might have got alopecia areata. You will need to take him to the dermatologist or the GP who would have to give him intralesional. Injection triamcinolone into the area once and repeat the injection every w4weeks .
The hair will grow after a few weeks.
In case the hair does not grow , the doctor will need to make sure that there is no scarring in the area. If there is scarring then the hair will not grow back and the only option would be to do a hair transplant in the area depending on the local examination .

Alopecia areata occurs due to the following etiology: autoimmune , hereditary and stress

Most commonly it is due to autoimmune reasons and hence the treatment of choice.
