Resolved Question:

I have small rust colored spots on the top of my feet and the outsides of my ankles. I also have varicose veins, are these related?

Hi. I will do my best to advise. However, please note that this does not substitute an in-person consultation with a doctor.

I cannot be 100% certain without looking at the spots but yes certainly varicose veins can cause back pressure and leakage of blood into the skin, leading to rusty spots. These are harmless and usually fade in time. But new ones will keep appearing unless the varicose veins are treated. Using class 2 compression stockings is the easiest way to control them, but if they are very prominent, it would be a good idea to get them surgically treated
