The most common cause is seborrheic dermatitis, and often associated with dandruff on the scalp. The other causes include atopic dermatitis especially if the individual has a history of atopy including asthma, food allergy etc or the third possibility is a contact dermatits to nail polish.Moisturisers are a must along with oral antihistamines like claritin 10 mg daily, oral vitamin minerals like minavit stress 1 daily and topical hydrocortisone cream by night daily for a week and then on alternate days for 2 weeks.Topical pimecrolimus is also used .
