Customer Question

I lost a three tooth bridge two months ago, that cannot be replaced. I have received three opinions about what should be done. Dental implants are being pushed but I am almost 80 years old with no dental insurance and don't want to spend thousands of dollars or invest months to deal with the rigors of implants. I am not in pain and would like some realistic options.

Hello there.

I think you are correct. Given all the factors you mentioned, such as cost and your age, a removable partial denture is a good option worthy of consideration. Implants are a great solution. But for many, the cost is prohibitive. And implants are much more invasive. They also take a long time between the initial procedure until the final restorations are placed. I've done many implants and many removable partial dentures over thirty years of practice. I have many patients who are very happy with both solutions. I think you should ask your dentist about whether or not a removable partial denture is an option he can deliver for you. It would likely be far less expensive, much quicker and less traumatic.
