I have a root growing out of my gum. The tooth was extracted

Customer Question

I have a root growing out of my gum. The tooth was extracted 25 years ago and fitted with an implant. It is painful. Can't get an appt with oral surgeon for a week. It was diagnosed by a prosthodontist yesterday. Does this require surgery to be removed and will the implant have to be removed?
