Customer Question

FOR DR KATZ

There is an open space between 2 teeths and it disturbs because when I eat some enter into this empty place. I went to dentist who told me that on that teeth there is a crown made some 10 years ago, and to treat this problem must take out first that crown.

My question to you Dr Katz if dentist take out an old crown is it a possibility that a teeth will get broken ?

Do I need an Endodentist fr such a work? Or a dentist ?

I will appreciate your reply with details .

Thanks in advance

Welcome .I will do my best to answer your question.I am not a great typist,be patient and feel free to ask if anything is unclear.A dentist can take the crown off and it is cut off to prevent it from breaking.Endodontists do not deal with crowns. The procedure is easy. The crown is cut off,the tooth is prepped gently,a new impression is made, and in about two weeks you will have a new crown cemented on with tighter contacts to stop the food impaction. If the dentist knows what he is doing, the tooth will not break.Dr.Katz41117.982205706

Thanks Dr Katz as you remember from my previous weeks qusetionsI am 57 years old men using FOSALAN since one year . According what I read in Internet taking out a teeth or and making teeth implantation I mean puting not natural teeths , with someone using FOSALAN can make NECROSIS which you know is very dangerous meaning also hospital and life threatining. So someone who use FOSALAN should not make such dental treatments?

I will appreciate your reply with details.

Thanks Dr Katz

Having a crown made is not an implant and you had not mentioned in any of your previous posts that you needed an implant or even planned on getting an implant. So it is needless to worry about such things.Surgical procedures involving bone need to be done with caution in patients taking Fosolan. If you have any surgery in the jaws ..it will be done by an oral surgeon who is familiar with the precautions. These complications of necrosis are not common and the documented cases are few.It seems like you worry so much, that the stress of your worrying is going to lead to ill health..and we know stress causes many problems in your body.Try to relax a bit ,the replacement of a crown is a simple and straightforward procedure.

Dear XXXXX I appreciate your advices. Since I had this problem with one teeth and 2 different dentists and finaly endodentist handled and crown temporary or permanent not done for which I wait 2 months to be sure is no problem I discovered new things. Visiting another dentist who made me panoramic picture told me that the teeth so many has been opened and closed finaly finished by endodentist he sees in the picture that is still a small infection and said is too early after few months hope infection will disapear this I cant understand after so much work still infection exist. Moreover he told me he can see damage in bone due to this teeth, this also I do not understand what he means and how critical it is.

Than he says is another teeth with old crown must take out and treat the teeth if I want. Finaly I come to conclusion that because of Fosalan and because may take out a teeth/s soon or later I am in high risk of Necrosis. I have no need now for implant but soon this may come at my age and again problem of Fosalan and risk of Necrosis. Yes Dr Katz I am in stress as I think the dentists I visited here dont really think the way I would like to think meaning not explain me with details present situation and eventual future complications. Do you think I should ask again what he means by DAMAGE IN THE BONE? Which bone? What is the right way to ask him the question?

Also have you heard case when taking out an old 10 years crown teeth get broken?

Excuse me for so many questions but you are only person who can help me at the moment according your big experience. Will be happyas usual to receive your detailed reply. Thanks

If the crown is cut off properly, the tooth will not break. You cannot see infection on an xray..you can only see what infection may have done while the tooth was infected.Infection causes pressure acid production and bone loss, but the effect on xray may be seen long after the infection is gone. You can not diagnose infection from just looking at an xray. You do not need any teeth removed right now, there is no indication that you need an implant. There is no swelling or drainage and pain in your mouth.Yes one day you could cross the street and a car may hit you.Are you going to sit in your house all day thinking about that day the a car may hit you...? even though that day may never come. There are many things in the world that can happen to us,people are fragile. If you worry about these things constantly..it will get you nowhere.Go enjoy your life and stop the worrying. If a problem comes up ,you will deal with it. Your stress about your perceived problems that you are going to have,is unrealisticand is not good for your health.

Thank you very much Dr Katz. May I just ask a follow up question ,if possible than I would like to know , for what purpose is good tomake XRAY PHOTO called PANORAMIC and a photo Called STATUS of all the teeths ? What they call a follow up question is it a question after client Rated and accepted without additional charges?

No additional charges. The panoramic xray is one taken to show all of the teeth and the surrounding structures from the sinus area below the eye sockets all the way down to the entire lower jaw.It is a good xray to take every four to five years to show all of the teeth, bone levels cyst formations and any bony changes that have occurred.I do not know what status of all teeth means. We take individual xrays of particular areas if there is a specific area that we need to see more defined.
