Thank you for your question. I'll do my best to answer it for you.Sore throat, enlarged or swallowed tongue and burning can be symptomes of some oral diseases, most commonly they are indicator of viral pharyngynitis (inflamation of the back of the throat) or tonsillitis (inflammation of the tonsils) but in some cases the reason can be an allergic reaction, (depending on the sevierity of reaction other sypmtoms of an allergic reaction are trouble breathing, hives, sometimes rashes and sneezing), mononucleosis, glossitis, herpes stomatitis or even tongue cancer.there are other oral condition that we can meet the patient with the such symptoms and that's why as a prosthodontist, I recommend highly to visit an oral pathologist for the couple of tests and biopsy taking if needed. If you have any more questions, I am happy to help as much as possible so feel free to ask.

Yes, it can be treated with the new generation of antiviral drug like Zovirax and also acetaminophen for pain control. In some cases for severe pain an oral topical anesthetic can be helpful.
I also most mention a mostly liquid diet of cool none acidic drinks.
