Dr.Fazeli Niaki :

Thank you for your question. I'll do my best to answer it for you.
I have had some patients with the Zoster disease (shingles),treatment of shingles most of the time is complicated and need concern and long time but thanks to new generation of viral drug prognosis will be good.
I recommend to such patients complex treatment plan from different agents.
one new generation antiviral drug such Zovirax or Valtrex, I also prescribe acetaminophen for pain control, a Prednisoneto help control imflammation, and a topical lotion such as Benadryl .
In most of the cases such complex therapy works and patient can return to normal life but the treatment process can take some months.
I also highly recommend you to look for an oral pathologist( not dentist or MD) .
While many dentists have no reluctance to consult an oral pathologist, some physicians are not as familiar with the oral pathologist's level of expertise.
I think a consultation with an oral pathologist should be helpful.

If you have any more questions, I am happy to help as much as possible so feel free to ask.
