I have what seems to be pieces if bone coming out of the side of my gums after all of my teeth were pulled out. Is that normal and is it something that needs attention?

If you recently had the teeth removed, I would go back to your dentist and have them remove the bone/teeth pieces. They shouldn't charge you and it should be quick and easy. If you had the teeth removed years ago, they are probably residual root tips and they are easily removed at your dental office. If some bone or tooth was left when they were extracted, it is normal for the fragments to work their way to the gum surface. Either way, I would have them removed so they don't irritate you any more.
