Customer Question

I've been using Mepivacaine for all my dental procedures since I can't use Lidocaine in my upper teeth. I usually don't have side effects except for the numbing. I need a root canal in molar in the lower part of my mouth. Will the Mepivacaine spread farther if injected into the bottom teeth because theirs more blood vessels close by? I'm worried it's going to spread to my heart since it's one of the bottom teeth and theirs no epi to keep the medicine in the gums

Welcome to Justanswer.I will do my best to answer your question.I am not a great typist,be patient and feel free to ask if anything is unclear. The mepivicaine will cause no problem with your heart using it on your lower teeth. The injection for the lower will be in the form of a block and epinepherine really is not needed. I think that the problem that you have is more with the epinepherine. Some people are more sensitive to it and sometimes the local enters the blood stream through tiny vessels and the epinepherine will cause a rapid heart beat for about fifteen minutes or so. The mepivicaine will work fine..if more is needed it can always be reinjected and should cause no difficulty with your heart. If you have any further questions please ask.
