Customer Question

For about 2 to 3 weeks my mouth feels waxy or oily coated. It also feels like some of my taste on the top of my tongue isn't there. What could cause this?

DR. ALEX :

Great question, let me help you.

DR. ALEX :

These symptoms are typically caused by medications or biologic changes in your body

DR. ALEX :

If you have been on antibiotics, they could have caused this, and these symptoms will go away after a week after taking the medicine

DR. ALEX :

If the symptoms persist longer than this, then it is likely a hormonal change in your body

DR. ALEX :

Many women your age go through hormonal changes that can cause these kind of symptoms, but realize they are short-lived, and not permanent. They will go back to normal after no longer than a few months.

DR. ALEX :

It is nothing to worry about

DR. ALEX :

And nothing you have to see your dentist for.
