On January 6 2010 I bit down on a piece of molar that I had knocked out eating a banana chip. The dentist repaired my broken molar, however, x-rays didn't show damage to the molar that suffered trauma after I bit down on it with the broken tooth. He says I have tooth trauma, and said two weeks ago that I had to give it time to heal. I still can't bite down with it and only chew with one side of my mouth. I have terrible pain at night. I have taken 105 Advil since January 6 (cut down to 2 per day now). What do you suggest?

You may have cracked the tooth. Cracked tooth syndrome is difficult to diagnose. Does it hurt when you bite down or when you release from biting down? You shouldn't be in this much pain for just a broken filling. I highly recommend that you go back to the dentist or go to another dentist for a second opinion. Mention to the dentist "cracked tooth syndrome"!! I hope this helps!!!
