Resolved Question:

10. Where are auxiliary dental procedures such as the formation of dentures performed in
a dental office?

Dear ,

Customarily, most private practice dental offices do not fabricate dentures on site; rather, the
impressions and records are sent to a commercial dental laboratory, and the dentures are fabricated there.

Some high-volume dental clinics maintain an on-site laboratory for the purpose of denture fabrication, but this would be the exception to the rule.

Auxiliary procedures that are an integral part of denture service would normally be performed in the dental office in an area that is designated the "laboratory", but this area would generally have limited supportive functions-- it might have a model trimmer, a polishing lathe, and an area for pouring stone models.

Hope this helps...
