For a first offense, the penalty requires a minimum 1 year sentence in GA, maximum 10 years. Typically for a person who has no other record, they will receive 1-4 years with the jail time suspended and will get probation for that time. The law also mandates your drivers license be suspended for any cultivation offense for up to 1 year. The fine of about $5000 can also be imposed, depending on the judge.
Your friend helping with the alleged growing could be sentenced the same as you for growing, since they would be considered a principal in the offense.
