my niece missed her criminal court date for possession of a few prescription drugs.we thought her court date was wensday 8-28-13,but it was Monday 8-26-13,it was an accident, she hasn't missed any other court dates.her attorney wont even talk to her unless she pays him 2,500.00 cash.he said the judge put a warrant out for her.we want to do the wright thing, where should she turn herself in,she wants to show the judge it was just a mistake?
Hi Jacustomer,

If she only just missed a court date, she should not get in serious trouble coming in voluntarily only a few days late. She needs to show up at court and talk to the clerk of the court. She has to tell him that she accidentally missed her court date and wants to be added to the calendar to see the judge. Frequently -- particularly this time of year when the court is slow -- she can get to see the judge that very day, explain herself, and just get a new date to come back with her lawyer.

The longer the delay, the better more angry the judge is likely to be, and the better it would be for her to come in with a lawyer. But after only a few days, she should be okay, particularly if her track record with the court is a good one.
