Welcome to JustAnswer.com
I am sorry to hear about this difficult situation.
Do you already have teaching license?
From the California Commission of Teacher Credentialing?
When did your DUI occur?
Were you convicted of this DUI?
Were your teaching credentials in any way effected by this DUI conviction?
and you were a teacher at the time of the arrest and reported this conviction?
Did you get in any other trouble with the law since this DUI conviction?
Are you planing to apply for a new job position?
Is this with private or public sector?
Well, you can certainly apply for the position and you would have to disclose the DUI and describe the circumstances of what happen.
And then it would be up to the Board of Education and specific school as to whether to offer you employment in this position.
OK, so there is no legal reason that I cannot work
So, basically, this DUI conviction would not bar you from applying and obtaining this position, but it would be up to the discretion of the school and board of education whether to approve you for the position and they can question you on the subject of the DUI conviction.
This would not be an absolute bar to you being employed as a teacher!
Does this make sense?
Yes. Thank you very much
