can I get a passport while on probation with a felony drug

This answer was rated:

can I get a passport while on probation with a felony drug conviction? my po already granted me to travel and I'm getting a travel permit.
Thank you for your question.

Yes you can. A passport is a means of identification used for international travel. It is not a criminal record check. Regardless of your criminal record you can get one as long as it is not prohibited by the terms of your probation or parole.

There are some classes of people who will be denied a passport, however:

1) People convicted of crossing an international border for drug trafficking
2) Persons behind on child support greater than $5,000

As you have already been granted clearance by your PO to travel, assuming you do not fall into one of the two other categories above, you should be fine.
