Can I get charges removed from my record if they were dismissed

This answer was rated:

Can I get charges removed from my record if they were dismissed if I have a dui in Ohio? Additionally, I have on misdemeanor charge I was found guilty for back in 2009. Again, the other charges on the night of the dui were dismissed.

meigs004 :

Hello, how are you this evening?

meigs004 :

So you were wondering if you can have the charges on your record pertaining to the DUI removed?

Customer:

Yes.

Customer:

Is it possible?

meigs004 :

Ok, fortunately, Ohio does have expungement laws. This allows for you to have those charges completely removed from your record and sealed.

Customer:

I read some of those laws and they suggest that if I have a DUI I am stuck with everything. Is that true?

meigs004 :

In order to obtain that expungment or sealing, you would have to file a petition for expungment. You have a DUI conviction?

Customer:

Yes. Does that prevent me from being eligible?

meigs004 :

No it does not.

meigs004 :

Here is a very informational page for your reference.

meigs004 :

pertaining to eligibility.
