Hi,My name is XXXXX XXXXX X'd be happy to answer your questions today. We have recently implemented a new payment and feedback system. Please note that you are asked to rate my courtesy and professionalism, and not whether the answer supports your legal position. I only receive credit when rated 3 or higher. If for any reason you feel that a lower rating is appropriate, please first give me the opportunity to address your concerns by clicking the "reply" tab. I appreciate your patience while we adjust to the new system.Under Federal law, a person who has been convicted of a drug offense involving a passport or the crossing of international borders is not eligible to receive a passport (and can have an existing passport revoked) while imprisoned, on probation, or on parole. 22 U.S.C., Section 2714. Telling them that you've been convicted flags the application to let them know to check the records before issuing it. If you're just talking about simple possession, you shouldn't have problems. It's important to answer the questions honestly and truthfully, because the application is signed under penalty of perjury. There may be delays, so file the application well in advance of when you need the passport. Then, just be willing to provide additional information if they request it.
